The Ilitch organization, which has gotten away for quite some time with failing to address blighted buildings around the Little Caesars Arena, will begin boarding up those buildings on Monday morning, Fox 2 reports.

The city plans to start ticketing the organization on Tuesday if the problem isn't addressed.

Late last month, Allie Gross of  the Detroit Free Press reported that the city had given the Ilitches an extension of more than a month to fix code violations flagged in May on two unsecured, windowless properties the family owns on Cass Avenue.

The eyesores — the former Hotel Ansonia at 2447 Cass Ave. and the former Atlanta Apartments at 2467 Cass Ave. — received notices May 21 demanding a series of corrections be made by May 30.
