Downtown Royal Oak has seen businesses come and go in recent years.

Here's the latest entry: Bar Louie, a national "gastrobar" chain based in Texas, opened Monday at 510 Main St. in the spot previously occupied by Blackfinn sports pub.

The menu at this "eclectic urban bar," as it casts itself, features chicken and churros, braised short rib, salmon, fish and chips, four flatbreads, fried calamari, shrimp tempura, salads, four sandwiches and four burgers.

Among promotions are $1 burgers on Tuesday after 5 p.m., weekday happy hour specials from 3-7 p.m., beer discounts all day Wednesday and $10 mimosas at weekend brunch.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.

“One of the reasons we chose Royal Oak is because we believe in the development going on in this town," manager Chad Apap said in a press release. "There are a lot of changes going on right now. We want to be a part of that development and grow with the community.”

The media handout notes that other new places in Royal Oak include Vera Asian, Diamonds Steak and Seafood, Pinky’s, Sake Sushi,  Mrs. Masons Co. and Kaydense Galleria.  In addition, Proving Grounds Coffee, Kaizen Ramen, Condados Tacos and City Ramen are coming soon.

Bar Louie, founded in 1990, opened earlier in Livonia, Clinton Township, Dearborn, Novi, Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills and Ann Arbor. Overall, it has expanded to more than 140 sites.
