If you're a fan of Eminem and want to make money off his talent, here's your chance.
Brian McCollum of the Detroit Free Press reports:
Investors can now buy a stake in Royalty Flow, a startup that intends to purchase a portion of Eminem production royalties.
Royalty Flow's initial public offering was launched Monday, aiming to raise up to $50 million before it acquires a 25% share of the Bass Brothers' FBT Productions, the Ferndale firm that collects royalties on all Eminem recordings and several side projects released through 2013. Shares in Royalty Flow would then be offered on a public exchange.
The Eminem catalog earned $82 million for FBT from 1999 through 2016, according to a circular released by Royalty Flow. Eminem is described there as "an iconic hip-hop artist who was the top-selling recording artist of the 2000s in the U.S. and one of the best-selling music artists of all time."
Eminem is not involved in Royalty Flow.
Interested investors can reserve shares here, with a minimum investment of $2,250 for 300 shares at $7.50 per share.
A press release describes Royalty Flow this way:
Royalty Flow is a specialty financing company created to acquire passive interests in premium, royalty generating catalogs of music and other media. Shareholders in Royalty Flow are eligible to receive dividends based on the performance of the royalty assets it holds, and participate directly in the growth of the music and media industries. It is a subsidiary of Royalty Exchange, the largest online marketplace of music and media royalties.
Prospective investors should carefully read about the risks.
