From the looks of it, Pistons' Chauncey Billups may not have a lot more to go before he hangs it up as an NBA player.
Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reports that Billups, who had left knee surgery a few days ago, was asked Monday night after the Pistons umpteenth loss, whether he had much more time left as a pro player.
“The gas light is on. I don’t know if there’s 15 miles or 30 miles left," he said, according to Ellis.
Ellis wrote that Billups is expected to undergo up to three weeks of rehab before he sees if he can return.
“It all kind of just depends how this feels, how things are with the knee,” Billups said of a return next season. “If the knee is fine, sure I would like to come back. But if it’s not, I don’t want to come back to this."
You can hardly blame Billups if he doesn't feel the urgency to return and risk reinjuring his knee.
It's not as if the Pistons are serious contenders this year.
