People have scheduled weddings, parties and other events on this century's last date with three matching numbers. The repetition won't happen again until Jan. 1, 2101 -- or 01-01-01.

Ann Zaniewski in the Free Press reports that bridal gown retailer David's Bridal estimates that 7,500 brides nationwide are getting married today, compared with 485 couples who wed on Dec. 12, 2011, a Monday. Thirteen brides purchased gowns for Dec. 12 ceremonies at the chain's Madison Heights store, and people are already registering for 11-12-13, manager Jenna Mearing said.

"Brides love themes. It gives them a sense of personalization for their event," she said.

Dates with repetitive or consecutive numbers have long been popular for weddings, said Alessandra Sbrocca, owner of Alessandra Bridal and Formalwear in Warren.

Brides favor the month matching the day and, in the last 12 years, the day or month matching the last two digits of the year, she said. For instance, in 2001, January was busier than usual.
