Jalen Rose says former Michigan teammate Chris Webber doesn't associate with the rest of the Fab Five.

Detroit News: Rose talked with Matt Dery on 105.1 FM on Thursday about several topics, including U-M recognizing the Fab Five, and Chris Webber and his association with the other four members — Rose, Juwan Howard, Ray Jackson and Jimmy King.

All five were together at the Georgia Dome for the Final Four — Webber in a suite and the other four in the crowd — but didn’t meet face-to-face. Rose said it was indicative of the relationship Webber has had with the others.

“There’s clearly a disconnect and it’s unfortunate, but it is what it is,” Rose said Thursday.

The Fab Five made history when all five made up an all-freshman starting line-up in the 1991-1992 season. The team went to back-to-back NCAA championship games in 1992 and 1993. After Webber turned pro following his sophomore season, the remaining four led Michigan to a 1994 Elite Eight appearance.

However, Michigan's basketball program was penalized with NCAA sanctions for the program's involvement with booster Ed Martin. Webber reportedly accepted thousands in cash payments from Martin while a Wolverine.

UM athletic director David Brandon says Webber would have to apologize before he could be accepted back into the Michigan fold.
