The latest news for General Motors can only be good news for President Barack Obama in Michigan as he goes into the final stretch of the campaign.
The Detroit News' Melissa Burden reports that General Motors is expected to announce today the creation of 2,000 new jobs in Michigan.
Of those, 1,500 will be at a new information tech innovation center in Warren. Those hires will come within four years.
Of the 1,500, about 30 percent could be recent college grads, the News reports.
The announcement is likely to help Obama who has been consistently ahead in polls in Michigan.
