The Detroit Society of Professional Journalists kicks off its monthly speakers program tonight at the Anchor Bar, the original reporters'  bar in downtown Detroit.

The journalist organization will host the series every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the back room of the Anchor, 450 W. Fort St.

Tonight, John Niyo a sports columnist at the Detroit News, and Mark Snyder, the University of Michigan beat reporter at the Detroit Free Press, will talk.

In a release promoting tonight's event, the SPJ says: "Get insights into the fall's biggest questions: Who wins in the Michigan v. Michigan State match-up? Will the Tigers return to the World Series? Are the Lions for real this year?"

The program is free for members, $10 for nonmembers and $5 for students. All are welcome.
