Of all the craziness that November elections bring nationwide, the attempted comeback of ousted state lawmakers Cindy Gamrat and Todd Courser ranks pretty high up there.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow spent part of her Monday night broadcast featuring the two married lawmakers, who had an adulterous affair, got ousted from the state House, and are now hoping to recapture their seats in a special primary election set for today. Winners of the elections will square off on March 8.

They are also under investigation by the Michigan State Police and state Attorney General, who are trying to determine if they committed a crime by allegedly using government resources to cover up the affair with a fake email scandal saying that Courser had a sexual encounter with a male prostitute in Lansing.

"You know every election day there's always one story that rises above all the others, right?, "Maddow says. "In terms of out loud, sheer American strangeness, audaciousness. Well, this election day the story is  the Michigan, philandering tea partiers and the serious governmental question of whether state resources and staff time and computers were used to concoct the fake, scandalous email allegations that the dude having the affair was instead secretly gay, and so we have covering up the fact the dude was specifically not gay with somebody else's wife."

Maddow goes on to have some fun as she tells the story, noting that Courser resigned in September right before he was about to get ousted by the House, and that Gamrat was expelled in a vote by fellow lawmakers.

The question is, if they win tonight, how many people will find that amusing?

Certainly, Maddow will have more fodder for a show or two.

Meanwhile, Courser and Gamrat are getting out the word for the election.

On Sunday, Courser posted a video on his site talking about the race.

On Monday, he posted this on Facebook:

I appreciate everyone's support and please remind those you know to vote tomorrow! God bless you all!

On Saturday, he posted this on Facebook:

My failure is complete; I have no excuses or stones to throw at anyone, but in this spot I get literally hundreds of communications in times like these - some are not worth repeating. This one is from a gay man who's email to me is at the bottom and it was in response to one of my emails out. I get literally bombarded with gay men who for some reason come to me and I am given the chance to respond in Christ with a message of the hope of the cross. I get a lot of others who are so incredibly unable to forgive or to see the requirements of a true believer to forgive; they for some reason can't see their own sin; its hard to even respond to them in the love of Christ. Believers can be the toughest to express true forgiveness or for them to accept forgiveness, at times myself included.

I don't always do it well, but here is my response to his email...and his email is at the bottom.
Brother you have your liberty! You have your liberty and regardless of what you have heard about me I am not against you and your liberty. I don't hate you and I don't demagogue you. You have every right to sin just as I do. We also both have the right to live free in Christ! People don't seem to understand that God is of course the true libertarian. He gave us the freedom to choose sin and death separated from Him; and He gave us the freedom from sin and death thru His son on the cross. He did not simply make us into lifeless robots and He knows we are broken sinners and He loves us completely. Your sin and mine are no different in the sight of God. Regardless of what you have heard true believers in Christ are not wanting to use the power of Government to destroy you and they don't want the power of government used to destroy them. All we have to do is acknowledge Him and that we are sinners and that we need Him as our Lord and we are then free from the weight and sin and death and we can then live free in Him alone. I don't know what that looks like for you but it will probably look different than your life looks now. He is just as available to you as He is to me.
In Christ

On Monday night, Gamrat posted this on her Facebook page:

FOX 17 did some canvassing with me today for their story about the election tomorrow. I think out of all the stations, FOX 17 has been one of the most accurate and balanced that I have crossed paths with.

In this shot I am writing a note to a voter on a contrast lit piece which shares where I stand on issues compared to some of the other candidates.

She also posted this on Monday:

Another MichiganSTRONG finish!

I am honestly astounded as I write this tonight at the amazing job that has been done by my family and our volunteer team since this special election began just over 6 weeks ago!

Together, we quickly mobilized into full campaign mode, covering hundreds of miles across Allegan County and stopping by thousands of doors. In addition we were able to reach thousands of voters through phone calls and mailers....

She goes on to write:

We absolutely have the best campaign team in Allegan County bar none, and I just can't thank you enough!

Whatever happens tomorrow, we can rest easy knowing we truly gave our all in this effort, gaining momentum each and every day, for a truly awesome and worthy MichiganSTRONG finish!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and may God bless each of you who helped in any way!
