Despite what the federal judge in the case said, jurors told the Detroit Free Press that they wanted to convict Kwame Kilpatrick friend Bobby Ferguson on all but one count in a bid-rigging case,  but a lone juror held out.

Freep reporter Teresa Baldas wrote:

The jurors said they want to dispel any perceptions that they were confused or divided, especially on Ferguson. Ten of the 11 jurors voted to convict him of seven crimes that would have sent him to prison for up to 20 years.

“There was no confusion and at the end we started to connect the dots — we got it. It’s just one person didn’t want to budge at all no matter what we did,” said one juror who requested anonymity.

U.S. District Judge David Lawson wrote in his ruling last week that the jurors were very split, close to convicting on some counts and close to acquitting on others and divided on others.

The jurors told the Freep they were split on the other defendants in the case, but not on Ferguson.
