Denny McLain
In 1968, Tigers pitcher Denny McLain knew what it was like to be a winner. That year, his record was 31-6. He was the last major league pitcher to win 30 or more games.
Since then, his record, at least in court, hasn't always been so great. Twice, he's gone off to prison, once for extortion and drug dealing, and another time for looting the pension fund of the Peet Packing Co. in Chesaning, Mich., which he bought in the 1990s.
Now, the latest, which certainly isn't the biggest deal, but it's a loss, nonetheless, and bad publicity at that.
On Wednesday, a Livingston County 53rd District Court jury reached a quick verdict Wednesday against McLain, 71, for breach of contract, according to Lisa Roose-Church of the Livingston Daily.
The amount was for $1,910.
The paper reported that Joe Dobson sued McLain, alleging that he owed him $1,910 for unpaid wages for a sales job from October to November helping with marketing and sales at trade shows.
