The Detroit Police Department Gang Intel Unit and Homeland Security Investigations has arrested a juvenile in connection with a 3-D gun printing operation in Detroit.

Authorities on Wednesday executed a search warrant at a home in the 20100 block of Anglin St., near E. Outer Drive and Conant on the city's east side.

Officers seized 3D-printed gun parts, 3D Printers, a drill press, multiple rounds of ammunition and numerous firearm parts, according to a DPD posting on X.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), a person can usually legally make a firearm for personal use, but must be licensed by ATF if they manufacture the guns for sale or distribution.

Some states also have regulations regarding those guns. Michigan does not.
