Detroit's "reputation for seedy politics . . . hasn't changed just because of the city's bankruptcy," the chairman of Crain Communications concludes.

Keith Crain, writing in the latest issue of his Detroit business weekly, blasts the new write-in campaign of mischief-maker Mike Dugeon.

The idea that some barber who has never voted has all of a sudden decided to run for mayor is nothing short of amazing, unethical and bizarre. Whoever is behind this deserves to be called out and exposed.

The first thing Mike Duggan should do is sue him for copyright infringement: Take a look at the two websites, and there is a lawsuit that should happen. . . .

Whoever encouraged this uninformed barber is the real culprit and should be disqualified -- if running for office -- at least on moral grounds.

Crain doesn't point fingers, unlike Duggan aides who say they suspect campaign rival Benny Napoleon or a backer of choreographing the sound-alike candidacy. Napoleon's campaign "vehemently denies any involvement with a second write-in candidate," spokesman Jamaine Dickens said in a news release quoted elsewhere in Crain's.
