Kid Rock Donates Fake Senate Campaign Money to GOP College Group

 

For some who knew him, it was pretty evident all along that Kid Rock was never running for U.S. Senate.

Still, last year he launched a fake campaign and sold plenty of election-related merchandise.

Last month, the Michigan native donated $122,000 of the merchandise proceeds to a voter-registration organization affiliated with the College Republicans, his publicist said, Melissa Nann Burke writes in The Detroit News. 

Kid Rock, aka Robert Ritchie, for more than three months teased voters by running a fake campaign against incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow before finally confessing that it was all done in fun..

Before he finally admitted it was a joke, Deadline Detroit was the first to report in September that he wasn't running. "One hundred percent, he's not running," a GOP source told Allan Lengel.

Even after that report, local and national news sites continued to speculate as to whether he was really seeking office.

Kid Rock has voiced support for President Trump and visited him in the White House last year.
