Kim Trent

Helping helpless strangers doesn't always have its rewards.

Kim Trent,  a member of the Wayne State Board of Governors and a former Detroit News reporter, learned that the other day.

Here's her posting on Facebook.

I've lived in or near downtown Detroit for most of my adult life so I've faced this dilemma many times: A man is sprawled out on the sidewalk and I have to decide whether to step around him and ignore him like everyone else or inquire about his health.

I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I ignored a person in distress so I decide to ask.

Me: "Sir, are you ok? Do you need me to get you some help?"

Him: "B*#ch, how the f*#@ you gonna ask me if I need some help? You the one who need some help. I'm fine, b@#ch. You better be glad I don't kill your a## for bothering me."

Me: "Well, as long as you're alright. Take care."
