A crowd packed in to Ford Field Friday night to witness a showdown for the Detroit PSL title, a contest that almost never was.
You might recall that PSL Executive Director Alvin Ward canceled the game after King got into a brawl with Cody High School. during a game last Friday. He ruled that King had forfeited this Friday's contest because of the fight and Cass was automatically the winner.
But on Tuesday DPS emergency manager Darnell Earley became the good guy, overturning Ward's decision.
On Friday, the game came off with no glitches, with King beating Cass Tech 27-25 in a battle which looked as if either team could walk off in victory.
Next week, Cass Tech and King compete in the first round of the state playoffs.
