The bottom line is: What does ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick have to lose at this point?

Charles Ramirez of the Detroit News reports that the Kilpatrick's attorney on Friday asked the entire 23-judge bench of the 6th U.S. Court of Appeals to hear his appeal for a new trial.

The filing comes a little over a month after a three-judge panel of the court denied his request for a new trial and upheld his racketeering conviction. He's currently serving a 28-year prison sentence.

Harold Gurewitz, Kilpatrick’s attorney, filed the petition.

The next step after this would be to ask the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the case. The odds of court accepting the case would not be good.
