Daniel Ferguson
Well, the good news is that Daniel Ferguson won't be spending time behind bars like his brother-in-law, ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
Christina Hall of the Detroit Free Press reports that Daniel Ferguson, 43, of Detroit, was sentenced Wednesday in Macomb County Circuit Court to probation for an incident in July 2013 in which he was found sleeping at the wheel of a stolen 2012 Ford 350 pickup truck in St. Clair Shores.
The Freep reported that Ferguson pleaded no contest in in July to stolen property over $20,000, a felony, and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of operating while impaired, controlled substance/possession of marijuana and fingerprinting refusal.
The Freep wrote that in addition to probation, he was sentenced to $12,000 in restitution on the felony case and substance abuse evaluation/treatment on the misdemeanor case. A felony charge of receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle was dismissed.
The Freep wrote:
The 2012 Ford 350 pickup with Illinois license plates was registered to Ferguson. After his arrest, information was obtained from Illinois State Police that the truck may have been registered with a fraudulent vehicle identification number, police said.
