The state capital's daily paper uses powerful, colorful language to condemn "Michigan’s lame duck run amok."
A Lansing State Journal editorial urges the governor to block "a power grab" by senators and representives from his party by vetoing "egregious circumventions the Legislature has attempted in recent weeks."
He must use his veto power to assure all Michiganders that every voice has value.
There is too much at stake for Snyder to hide in his office. This is a time for front-and-center leadership. . . .
Gov. Snyder can, and must, be the grownup of Michigan’s Republican Party.

Actions by the legislative majority also are called "unconscionable," "shenanigans" and "bully tactics."
The newspaper, part of the Gannett chain that also owns the Detroit Free Press, decries legislation "limiting powers of the incoming administration, although these same powers were good enough for eight years under Republicans." It lists three other examples of post-election mischief.
Two-term Republican governor Rick Snyder . . . cannot possibly see the actions by his Republican colleagues in the Legislature as positive. They certainly aren’t positive for the people of Michigan.
It's a power grab from a party that can’t come to grips with the facts: The people of Michigan, in record numbers, voted for new leadership and a new direction – let them lead. That’s how democracy works.
And that's what makes these legislative antics particularly galling.
It's the second outcry in seven days by the editorial board led by executive editor Stephanie Angel against a "ridiculous power play by Republicans," as an earlier editorial says this month.
The bills currently being decided in darkness – with little to no transparency and insufficient time for public debate – are too important to ignore.
