Disgraced doctor Larry Nassar, who is currently serving a 60-year federal sentence for pornography and has many more decades of time awaiting him in the state prison system, was assaulted in May hours after he was released into the general prison population in Arizona, according to the Lansing State Journal.

Nassar's attorneys filed motions in Ingham County Circuit Court asking that he be resentenced in that county for sexual assault charges. He also asked that the judge, who said she signed his "death warrant," be disqualified from the case. Matt Mencarini of the Journal reports:

Nassar told his attorneys that he was attacked in federal prison within a few hours of being placed in the general population, according to the motion. His attorneys attributed that attack and the attempted attack of Nassar by the father of three of his victims during his Eaton County, Michigan, sentencing to "Judge Aquilina's efforts to demonize Dr. Nassar in front of the entire world."
