Let There Be Light: Detroit Ahead of Schedule to Relight Neighborhoods

Driving through neighborhoods in Detroit at night can be downright eerie when the street lights are out.

Now, the good news.

Christine Ferretti of the Detroit News reports that the Detroit’s Public Lighting Authority is about six months ahead of its timetable to relight all neighborhoods by the end of the year.

The News reports that officials plan to install nearly 40,000 LED streetlights will be complete by the end of July.
