If all the allegations are true, the giant auto companies are repeatedly cheating the American people.

General Motors is the latest to be accused of lies on federal engine emission standard tests. 

A  class-action lawsuit filed Thursday in U.S. District Court accuses GM of using defeat devices in two models of heavy-duty diesel trucks to beat emission tests, Frank Witsil and Eric D. Lawrence writes in the Detroit Free Press. GM dies wrongdoing.

Volkswagen and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have also been accused of the same. 

In April, U.S. District Judge Sean Cox of Detroit sentenced VW  to three years probation and ordered it to pay a $2.8 billion criminal fine. That criminal fine was on top of $1.5 billion VW was ordered to pay in a civil case brought by government regulators. Additionally, VW is spending $11 billion to buy back cars and offer other compensation.

This week, the federal government sued Fiat Chrysler for alleged emission results cheating.
