Lillian Powers is praised as "a Vine genius" by Gawker, which says: "It's a beautiful thing when a person finds her medium, especially so early in life." [Facebook photo]

Even a seventh-grader can grab more than 15 minutes of fame by being imaginative, authentic and sassy online.

Case in point: Lillian Powers, a Birmingham West Bloomfield 12-year-old videographer. [Suburb fixed after family contact.]

Nearly 100 clever six-second clips on her Vine earn effusive praise at Gawker, picked up Wednesday by an Australian newspaper and Jalopnik Detroit, a Gawker Media cousin.

In response to this article, A TV production company's director of development asked how to contact the family because "Lillian is an untapped talent that we’d like to talk to regarding a show idea."

Lillian -- who uses Lilli -- began uploading smartphone clips in mid-June, a summer lark now going viral. In addition to selfies of her in cute hats, she shot one of a dental checkup (captioned "Mean dentist") and one of candy-shopping two weeks ago ("Candy candy give me the news, I've gotta bad case of lovin u.")

The shorts work because they show "a mature sense of satire" and are "absurd, awkward-funny," Rich Juzwiak of Gawker tells the world. "All of this is a really positive use for all that annoyance that tweens have within them."

His post's headline: "This 12-Year-Old Is a Vine Genius."

Nobody on Vine amuses me more consistently than a 12-year-old girl from Birmingham, Michigan, who goes by the name Lillian Powers. . . . I assume this is something of a summer-vacation project. It's been time well-spent. . . .

My favorite feature of hers is the "random shoutout," in which she yells in a public space and catches the surprise reaction those within view.

Here's how much Jurzwiak admires this kid:

It's a beautiful thing when a person finds her medium, especially so early in life. And one day, Lillian Powers will write all the sketch shows and direct all the movies. I can't wait.
