It's not farfetched to imagine the new hockey arena, just north of the Fisher Freeway and Comerica Park, being named Little Caesars. After all, Mike Ilitch owns both the Red Wings and the pizza chain.

There's speculation that could happen, based on a Internet domain, as Robert Snell of Crain's Detroit Business reports:

A metro Detroit businessman said he sold the domain name www.littlecaesarsarena.com three weeks ago to an international brokerage firm for "five figures" amid speculation about the name of the new Detroit Red Wings arena.

The buyer's identity remained unclear late Thursday. It's possible the buyer is another speculator betting big, or it could be a clue that the Red Wings arena will be named after the Little Caesars pizza chain founded by team owners Mike and Marian Ilitch.

The hockey arenda is scheduled to open in fall 2017.
