There had been plenty media attention about Chad Carr, 5, grandson of former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr, who had battled an inoperable brain tumor.
Angelique S. Chengelis of the Detroit News reports that Chad, the youngest of Tammi and Jason Carr’s three sons, passed away on Monday.
Tammi Carr posted this on Facebook this afternoon:
At 1:21pm today, exactly 15 months since his DIPG diagnosis, Chad gained his angel wings. He left the earth peacefully and is now running and jumping in heaven. It is well with his soul.
We will follow up with service details once we have everything arranged. We thank everyone for the support and ask for continued prayers for our family.
On Sunday, she posted this:
So an update. Chad is hanging in there but unfortunately his breathing isn't good and he is sleeping a lot. We actually feel better when he is sleeping because he gets so frustrated trying to talk to us. It is really difficult.

Just days before his fourth birthday, Chad was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Giloma (DIPG), a tumor located in a small area of the brain stem. The median survival rate is nine months from diagnosis, and the only known approach for treatment is radiation, which shrinks the tumor and offers temporary relief
