Detroit radio has such a rich history.

Local author and historian Ken Coleman has a new book: "Soul on Air: Blacks Who Helped to Define Radio in Detroit."

Journalist and radio personality Cliff Russell writes on the WCHB's website that the  200-page book chronicles the first known African Americans on radio in Detroit as well as notables of the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s.They include: Van Douglas, Leroy White and Bill Lane, Jack Surrell and Bristoe Bryant.
