Before speaking Wednesday afternoon at the University of Michigan, President Obama stopped at another landmark nearby.

"President Obama enjoyed a classic #2 Reuben at #ZingDeli today!" Zingerman's tweeted.

The White House sent this tweet about the same time:

At his more important event, the president discussed his proposal to raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 by 2016.

"Nobody who works full time should be raising their family in poverty," Obama said, The Detroit News reports.

“The economy has folks at the top doing really well, but middle-class families ... they are working harder but their wages, their incomes are not going up,” Obama said at the Intramural Sports Building. “We are a better country than that.”

He was introduced by Mira Friedlander, a 22-year-old U-M senior who met Obama earlier at Zingerman’s.
