Monica Conyers, the former Detroit city councilwoman who pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to commit bribery, has from $15,000 to $50,000 in debt on an HSBC Neiman Marcus card, according to financial disclosure forms John Conyers filed with the House of Representatives last week.
You know she would have paid off her charge, but those mean federal prosecutors put her in jail for accepting bribes before she had the chance.
Sadly, it’s hard for a young family to pay down these kind of debts when one parent is unable to earn a living working as the sludge industry’s lackey and the other parent is forced to support the children on his mere $174,000 Congressional salary.
John Conyers faces a contested primary in August. Monica Conyers is scheduled to be released in May 2013. -- JTW
