Detroit Design Festival

The week-long Detroit Design Festival wraps up Sunday. You can talk about pretty things, make pretty things or just drink amidst pretty things, including canvases, sculptures, pottery, books, artifacts, clothing and more. Basically, if you like stuff of any kind, there's an event for you.

See the schedule here. Look out for the neon signs around town, signaling a DDF event.

Light Up Livernois

The old Avenue of Fashion along Livernois is getting some sprucing up thanks to grant money and a new initiative. The efforts were seen for the first time Friday night at Light Up Livernois, where local artists and entrepreneurs will debut new art, business spaces and more. This one is my pick for the must-do event at the Detroit Design Festival.

Race At The Velodrome

Detroit's abandoned velodrome (a big, circular, angled bike track) serves as the speedy spot for a race this weekend. Called The Thunderdrome!, the races pit mopeds, scooters, bicycles, go-karts and more against each other. Seems like good fun to watch or race!

Races are on Saturday and Sunday. Check out WXYZ's video on the Velodrome for more info on what the heck a velodrome is.

Tashmoo On Belle Isle

The biergarten is back! This time, the roving bar once at home is West Village is popping up at the Belle Isle Conservancy. Yoga, kayaking, horse rides, games and food are also promised.

Check it out on Saturday.

Trinity International Film Festival

This film fest features indie flicks from around the world. It's hosted at the Carr Center in downtown Detroit, so grabbing a bite at Colors and then see any of the dozens of movies is a super simple.

Movies play Friday, Saturday and Sunday. See the full schedule here.

Detroit Restaurant Week Is Back

$30 three course meals at Detroit's finest eating establishments return for fall Restaurant Week.

Downtown restaurant Angelina Italian Bistro is on the list after making headlines last week for suing a Gilbert-owned company for wrongful eviction. Angelina has since been un-evicted.

See all the restaurants here.

Play Cornhole In Front Of Michigan Central Station

A cornhole championship is being hosted in front of the iconic building full of nothing on Sunday.  Plus, rollerskating, music, and firefighters with food.

Register for cornhole here. Find out about the other events here.

Bonus: Detroit Vegan Soul is having a preview night in West Village, a 6,000-person bike ride around town, and the Palmer Park Harvest Festival is 2-5 p.m. Sunday.
