The International Academy of Macomb in Clinton Township ranks as the top magnet school in the nation on an influential magazine list. Magnet high schools are public schools serve a region's top-rated students.

Two other Southeast Michigan high schools are among the top 100 schools in the annual U.S. News & World Report list of best public high schools:

  • The Macomb academy, part of Chippewa Valley Schools, ranks seventh overall.
  • The International Academy in Bloomfield Hills, run by Oakland Schools, is 30th.
  • Washtenaw International High School in Ypsilanti, operated by the Washtenaw Educational Options Consortium, ranks 41st.
