Absenteeism at L’Anse Creuse High School-North spiked on Monday following chatter on social media over the weekend about a threat against the school in November, The Macomb Daily reports.
The absenteeism rose even though police say the threat to the school was not credible.

Concerns and worries fueled by social media over the weekend prompted police to issue a press release late Sunday saying a potential threat reported at the school in November was deemed not credible.
In a prepared statement, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office did not reveal the nature of the threat.
“Our department investigated the matter fully, conducted a search, and interviewed everyone involved in it,” Sheriff’s Lt. John Michalke said Monday. “We determined the threat was not credible.”
On Nov. 18, Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies went to the school, located on 21 Mile Road, east of North Avenue, after a student reported hearing a conversation between two other students that included a threat.
