A Macomb County woman who was flying Spirit Airlines with her children from Los Angeles to Detroit last Thursday said she saw passengers assault a man who complained people were being too loud and he was trying to sleep.
Pilots landed temporarily in Iowa for two hours after the bloody assault, which was videtaped.
“We were in shock, really. We couldn’t believe it was happening,” the woman tells WDIV. "It was really scary. I had my kids with me and everybody was like, ‘Oh my God.’”
She said passengers aboard the packed flight were urging Spirit employees to help, Shawn Ley reports.
“'Everyone was like, ‘Why aren’t you doing anything?’ They were like: ‘We don’t get paid enough to deal with this,’” she recalled.
“'They went and changed their clothes before the marshals came," she said. "They hurried up and ran to the bathroom because they had blood all over their clothes and they didn’t want to be recognized.” Police said they didn’t have jurisdiction to arrest anyone because the fight happened over Kansas.
