Here's a nice story about giving back to the city.
Julie Hinds of the Detroit Free Press reports that the makers of “Burn,” a documentary about the beleaguered Detroit fire department, is donating $115,000 to the department for much-needed gear. The money is coming from proceeds of the film.
Hinds reports that the donation will be made via the Leary Firefighters Foundation, and actor Denis Leary, the executive producer of the film, will come to Detroit early next year for an official presentation.
“I don’t know if other filmmakers are as motivated as we were to make a profit,” said Brenna Sanchez, one of the filmmakers, according to the Freep. “We said we’d give back. We didn’t want to make any empty promises.”
