More allegations of mistreatment are surfacing in the case of Floyd Dent, the motorist who was beaten by cops during a traffic stop in Inkster.
Kevin Dietz of WDIV aired video Sunday night showing Dent in a lockup at the Inkster Police station. There is no audio.
But Dent says he repeatedly asked, and was denied medical attention in lockup after being beaten.
Dent was suffering from four broken ribs, a fractured orbital, and had blood on his brain, Dietz reports.
“I kept telling them I needed to go to the hospital,” Dent told WDIV. “I begged them please call EMS.”
“I'm just sittin there, and everyone is just looking at me like I'm a circus clown,” he said, recalling the experience. “[I’m] bleeding like a hog, and then they put me in the jail cell.”
“These officers just didn't care, and the way they treated me in the police station, they had me stripped down, okay, to my shorts,” he said. “They had me lean up against the wall, on the bench on my knees. This is so terrible.”
He said eventually heard someone say that he needed medical attention and he was taken by EMS to the hospital.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office is expected to announce today at 11 a.m. whether charges will be filed against the cops. The cop who hit Dent in the head 16 times has been fired by the Inkster Police, but still works part time as a Highland Park cop.
The cops had charged Dent with resisting arrest that night, but a judge dismissed those charges. Dent still faces charges of possession of cocaine, but he claims the police planted the drugs in the car that night.
