Father standing at register sees car stolen.

When visiting some of Detroit's gas stations, you never know what can happen.

Well, this week a father ran inside a Citgo gas station on the city's Southwest side and left his 10-year-old son inside his red Chevy Blazer that was running.

As the Fox2 video shows, as the man was standing at the counter near the cashier, he noticed someone drive off with his car and son inside.

Fox2's Andrea Isom reports that when the driver realized the boy was in the vehicle, he let him out before getting on the freeway. She reports the boy ran back to the station, but his father had gotten into another vehicle and tried, unsuccessfully tracking down the car and his son.

The car was later found in southwest Detroit, thanks to a tip from citizens. Fox2 reports that witnesses say they know who the suspect is and his photo is on surveillance.
