The Macomb County Sheriff's Office dive team on Saturday morning recovered the body of a drowned man just east of Lake St. Clair Metro Park, WWJ reports. He was returning home by boat Friday night from the annual Jobbie Nooner festival.
The victim is as Virdest Orlando Day, 45, of Redford Township.
He jumped off the boat to help another passenger in the water, authorities say. A third person then jumped in. The first and third persons were able to get back in the boat, but Day could not be found.
Sheriff's deputies began the search on Friday night but called it off late into the night and resumed on Saturday, WWJ reports.
Around 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Day’s body was retrieved about 300 feet south of Huron Pointe off of Lake St. Clair Metro Park in seven feet of water.
