A young man was shot and killed Saturday evening as he walked out of the Burlington Coat Factory at the Eastland Center Mall in Harper Woodss.

Kim Russell of WXYZ reports that the man in  his late teens or 20s was taken to the hospital but died. A suspect was arrested in the parking lot.

The mall was under lockdown for about two hours following the incident which unfolded shortly before 6 p.m. “It was a scary feeling to be shopping, and then the doors start closing down on you,” said Annette Coleman, who was exchanging Christmas gifts when it happened, according to WXYZ.

The victim and suspect appeared to know one another, the station says.
