There was an "aww" moment Thursday at the Detroit Auto Show that didn't involve a vehicle.

At an auto show event featuring the Big Four regional leaders, each was asked about any personal moments of pride they experienced in 2012. . . . [Hackel] responded:
"Well, I see my staff over there to the side laughing their heads off. This is an uncomfortable moment. So, I’m just going to give it – I got engaged on Christmas Day."
The 50-year-old elected official's fiancee is Tracie Damschroder of Shelby Township, a 31-year-old quality control specialist for auto parts manufacturer Faurecia in Troy, Selweski writes.
He told reporters that he met Damschroder at Macomb Community College, where he used to teach classes, and they have been dating for eight years since.
Back then, she was a 23-year-old coed and he was county sheriff.
The Macomb Democrat also spoke about his political plans at the Cobo Center luncheon.
