In a town that has far too much violence, authorities on Friday announced a crackdown on street and motorcycle gangs in Detroit.
U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade said 114 people had been charged, and described them as the “worst of the worst offenders.” George Hunter of the Detroit News reports that many were involved in murders, drive-by shootings, and armed robberies, and some bragged about crimes on social media.
The gangs targeted included the Bounty Hunter Bloods, the Almighty Vice Lord Nation and the Phantom Outlaw Motorcycle Club, the Free Press reported.
State, local and federal law enforcement joined forces with community activists to make the cases. -- A.L.
