If you wonder what it's like to see the Tigers from where Jeff Seidel and Mitch Albom sit, their employer dangles an invitation "for the best job you’ll never get paid for -- a one-day internship with the Detroit Free Press Sports department."
In a new promo partnership with Miller Brewing Co., the paper's parent company -- the Detroit Media Partnership -- invites drinking-age readers to describe how they have "a passion for their community, enthusiasm for Detroit Sports and thirst for staying informed."
. . . (It's hunger for staying informed when Domino's is the co-sponsor.)

Comerica Park's press box -- oops, that's "Press Box," the contest says.
The winner -- "one lucky individual" in contest-speak -- gets "to sit elbow-to-elbow with our best writers and spend time in the newsroom cranking out stories."
. . . (Uh-oh, Detroit Media Partnership suggests the sports staff has "our best writers" and others. Wonder if they know who they are.)
After "cranking out stories" for free the morning of July 11, the contest blurb says, "our lucky winner will view the Tigers play division rival Chicago White Sox . . . from the Press Box."
. . . (Style tip for unpaid interns: "dugout" and "bullpen" are lower case, but major league media pros work in the Press Box.)

No cutoff deadline for submissions is given. Maybe the copy was created by someone who's not one of their best writers.
[In fairness, the Free Press isn't directly responsible for contests concocted by the Detroit Media Solutions marketing arm of its owner.]
