He’s a Cass Tech graduate. A former Detroit cop.
Could he be the new boss?
Fox 2 reports that Cincinnati Police Chief James Craig tops the list of candidates being considered for Detroit's new police chief. A search firm is conducting a nationwide hunt.
Fox 2 writes on its website:
Craig's originally from Detroit. He graduated from Cass Tech, and started his career in the Detroit Police Department in 1977. He continued on to Los Angeles after being laid off, and there he soared through the ranks of the LAPD. He went on to become the chief of Portland, Maine, then Cincinnati, a city that is also no stranger to violence.
Fox2 reported that Craig was in Detroit last week where he met with Mayor Dave Bing, Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr and others.
Bing will submit a name to the city council eventually, but Orr has final say.
