Sometimes the wilderness can prove to be too much.
Authorities at this point are assuming that Earl Zellen, 70, of Brighton and his son Matt Zellen, 40, of Bloomfield Hills, who owns the Detroit Outfitters store in Warren, are dead, according to Zlati Meyer of the Detroit Free Press.
The father and son took off July 21 for a fishing trip in northern Canadian wilderness, a couple of hundred miles from the Arctic Circle, the Freep reports. They missed their flight back on July 29.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police conducted a search but came up empty. Authorities figure they drowned in the frigid waters.
Matt Zellen has three-year-old twins.
