A 28-year-old Lincoln Park woman has been charged with murder in the death of her newborn son.
Authorities allege that Chenell Tate, 28, gave birth beside a lake near her residence and threw the baby into a garbage bag before abandoning him.
The investigation began March 6 around 8 p.m. when Lincoln Park Police were called to the 4000 block of Fort Street and found a plastic bag with the deceased newborn.
On March 30, Tate was arrested. She faces charges of felony murder, first-degree child abuse and abandonment of a child.
She was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in 25th District Court in Lincoln Park.
