MGM Grand Detroit makes a list of 100 commercial properties that pay the most property taxes in the U.S., according to Commercial Cafe, a real estate blog.

MGM ranks 71st with a $16.7-million bill in 2016. It's the only Michigan site listed.

Properties examined include office buildings, casinos, apartment buildings, mall and entertainment parks and industrial complexes.

The Avenue of the Americas is the most expensive street in the U.S., according to the survey. Fifteen properties there were collectively billed $443 million in 2016 property tax.

Eighty-three of the top 100 taxpaying buildings are in Manhattan, with a total combined bill of $2 billion in property taxes last year.
