Last week you may recall that the Michigan Republican Party told Deadline Detroit that Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema is “entitled to his opinion” that President Barack Obama is a Muslim and that terrorism is a uniquely Islamic trait. One assumes Agema must believe Scott Roeder converted before killing George Tiller inside a church.

And that’s totally ok with the Michigan Republican Party. You know what’s not ok? You know what offends state GOP Chairman Bobby Schostak to the core of his moral being?

When some lady hangs a banner on Michigan Speaker of the House Jase Bolger’s porch that reads “Vaginas Are Revolting.”

In response to this political theater equivalent of the ding-dong ditch, Schostak wasted no time demanding an unequivocal condemnation.

MLive: Michigan Republican Party chairman Bobby Schostak issued a statement calling on Democratic leaders to condemn the action and formally deny involvement. House Democratic Leader Richard Hammel's office said he "obviously" does not condone trespassing and for Schostak to suggest that he might be involved is "just ridiculous.”

Now that everyone has thoroughly expressed their outrage can we get down to the serious business of unpacking this sign’s rather muddled message?

Does “Vaginas Are Revolting” mean revolting the disgusting sense (i.e. Larry Craig and Ted Haggard find vaginas to be gross) or is the word revolting used here in the “off with their (ahem) heads” revolution sense?

Either way, at least we know Bobby Schostak finds a dumb political prank more offensive than rank bigotry from a fellow GOP leader. – JTW
