Filmmaker Michael Moore has come a long way.
On Monday, he was at the Toronto International Film Festival to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his groundbreaking documentary "Roger & Me."
Julie Hinds of the Detroit Free Press reports that Moore played the film before an audience of hundreds that gave him a standing ovation.
Afterward, she writes, that he told the audience he had hoped that General Motors CEO Mary Barra would attend.
Wishful thinking.
“I did try to invite her tonight, seriously,” he said.
Hinds writes:
A “Mary & Me” scenario shows that some things have changed since Moore’s 1989 documentary became a pop-culture sensation and changed the face of the genre.
