First lady Michelle Obama, who arguably is far more popular these days than her husband, will campaign for Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Gary Peters and gubernatorial nominee Mark Schauer at the Detroit Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Todd Spangler of the Free Press reports that the event, slated for 12:45 p.m., will be open to the public. People must have tickets, which are free. Theywill become available beginning Wednesday at 10 a.m. in certain locations in Southeast Michigan. 

Ticket locations at the Michigan Democratic Party offices include: 17243 Mack Ave. in Detroit; 18409 Livernois Ave. in Detroit; 33804 Schoenherr Road in Sterling Heights; 17100 W. Twelve Mile Road, lower level, Southfield; 4 N. Saginaw, second floor, Pontiac; 23918 Cherry Hill St. in Dearborn; and 3810 Packard Road, Suite 230, Ann Arbor.

“The first lady has been a tremendous advocate for our middle-class families and veterans, and we look forward to having her in Michigan,” said Lon Johnson, state Democratic Party chairman, according to the Freep.
