On Veterans Day we give thanks to those who served our country.
But what we often forget beyond giving thanks is taking care of Veterans, some of whom battle with the physical and emotional scars of war.
And unemployment.
Zlati Meyer of the Detroit Free Press writes:
About 722,000 out of 21.4 million U.S. veterans were unemployed in 2013, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics; Michigan had the second-highest veteran unemployment rate in the U.S. with a 10.6%. (New Jersey was highest with 10.8% and North Dakota was the lowest with 3.2%.)
