Michigan reported an average of 1,560 daily Covid cases for Thursday and Friday and a total of 96 deaths during the two-day stretch.
Friday's numbers were up from the daily average of 1,186 daily cases reported earlier this week from Saturday to Wednesday.
To date, the state has recorded 31,791 Covid deaths and 2,054,891 cases.
Health authorities are been exploring the possibility of a second booster shot for the general population, but have yet to make a decision.
