Michigan saw a drop Monday in the number of daily Covid cases from the last report on Friday.

On Monday, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported an average of 1,185 daily cases for the past three days. That compared to an average of 1,563 cases per day, or 378 more, for last Thursday and Friday.

The state reported a total of 19 deaths over the latest three-day stretch, from Saturday to Monday, with eight being from vital record searches.

Last week, the state added 8,633 cases and 61 deaths from the virus. It was the sixth straight increase in weekly case totals.

To date, Michigan has recorded 922,687 confirmed cases and 20,030 deaths. The health department classifies 875,719 of those cases (95%) as recovered.

Meanwhile, the city of Detroit reopens TCF Center's drive-through operations Tuesday to give a third shot of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine to immunocompromised residents who make an appointment by calling (313) 230-0505. "Detroiters who believe their immune system to be less than optimal are encouraged to call starting today to schedule their appointment," an announcement says.

"What we are seeing in Florida and other Southern states today is what is headed our way," Mayor Mike Duggan says in Monday's statement. "We will expand access as quickly as the CDC and state allow."

The city offers a $50 gift card to anyone who drives a Detroit resident to get the third dose, or earlier shots. Drivers can call (313) 230-0505 to register and give information about the person they will bring.
